Man Brandishing Boxcutter Busted After Resisting Arrest In Virginia, Police Say

An Arlington man brandishing a boxcutter who ran into traffic is facing charges in Virginia for allegedly injuring an officer while resisting his arrest, police say.

Brian Tucker, 37, is facing charges following an incident that played out over the weekend when he was allegedly intoxicated and acting suspiciously early on Saturday morning.

Officers from the Arlington Police Department were called shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, where a driver reported that Tucker jumped in front of thier vehicle and began yelling while holding the weapon.

According to police, responding officers were able to locate Tucker and attempted to take him into custody, though he was noncompliant, and resisted, resulting in minor injuries to one officer who was assaulted.

Tucker suffered minor injuries of his own in the struggle, was evaluated and released by paramedics. During a search of him, a boxcutter was recovered, investigators noted.

The Arlington resident was charged with: 

  • Assault on police;
  • Carrying a concealed weapon;
  • Obstruction of justice;
  • Public intoxication.

He is being held without bond.
